The Ninth District Court of Appeals Coronavirus Order
Important Court Information and Guidance regarding COVID-19.
The Ninth District Court of Appeals has closely followed the reports of local and national health officials and Governor Mike DeWine regarding the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Governor DeWine and health officials have established guidelines and measures to combat the spread of this virus. Fortunately, for most people, the immediate health risk from COVID-19 is considered low, but the situation is evolving rapidly. In line with the orders of Governor DeWine and health experts, the Court will take the measures necessary to keep the public, attorneys, and our staff safe.
In keeping with the goal of limiting interactions among people, an important method to combat the spread of COVID-19, the Ninth District Court of Appeals will consider all cases on the briefs instead of hearing oral arguments. The Court will file orders in cases that are scheduled for oral argument alerting the parties that the cases will be considered by the Court on the briefs. If a party objects to the submission on briefs, the Court will either schedule telephonic oral argument or continue the case for oral argument at a later date.
The Ninth District Court of Appeals remains open for business. The Court will continue its regular functioning with a focus on the safety of the parties, attorneys, staff, and judges.
