Medina Municipal Court Addresses Coronavirus Threat

The Medina Municipal Court issued orders addressing the Coronavirus threat. The orders are as follows:

This Administrative Order coordinates the Court’s own efforts with those of Medina County and the State of Ohio to respond proactively to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 virus (i.e., Novel Coronavirus 2019-nCoV).

The Ohio Department of Health has established a call center to address questions about the virus. The call center is open 7 days a week from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and can be reached at 1-833-4- ASK-ODH  (1-833-427-5634).

At https://medinahealth.org/community/current-outbreaks/,the Medina County Health Department provides updated information regarding the COVID-19 virus, at-risk populations, affected areas and statistical data, preventative measures, and other related public resources.

Until further notice issues from this Court:

  • Parties and counsel are hereby ordered, to the fullest extent practicable, to conduct all civil pretrial conferences (under Loe. R. 26(C)(1 ) and Loe. R. 29 (8)) and all criminal pretrial conferences (under Loe. R. 36(C)(1)(a) and (b)) telephonically, and in accordance with the provisions of the Local Rules governing telephonic pretrial conferences.
  • Parties appearing without an attorney (i.e., appearing pro se) are directed to insure that they have provided to the Clerk of Court, and that they include on all documents filed with this Court, the required cell phone or other telephone contact information. (See Loe. R. 10(8).)

The Local Rules already authorize such telephonic conferences. With the conscientious cooperation of all parties and counsel, these measures will assist in regulating pedestrian concentrations and traffic in, on, and around Court grounds and facilities, without adversely affecting judicial administration. As the COVID-19 situation evolves in our County, additional measures may be employed.
